License Renewals
Licensees of the NC Medical Board are required to regularly renew or “register” their licenses in order to maintain the right to practice. Most licensees of the Board, including physicians and physician assistants, renew annually. Other types of licensees, such as Certified Clinical Perfusionists, renew biennially. Payment for a renewal must be made with a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express).
Renewal fee waiver available
NCMB waives the annual renewal fee for certain licensees who are actively deployed. Waivers must be requested via phone or email prior to completing annual renewal. To qualify, licensees must meet all three of the following criteria:
(1) currently licensed by and in good standing with the Board;
(2) serving in the armed forces of the United States or serving in support of such armed forces; and
(3) serving in a combat zone, or serving with respect to a military contingency operation as defined by 10 U.S.C. 101(a)(13).
NOTE: The Questions section of the online renewal was recently updated. Please review the questions carefully, as they have changed.
