If the “Medical Board” calls demanding information, be wary

NCMB has recently heard from physicians who have received telephone calls from individuals claiming to be investigators with the North Carolina Medical Board. The callers typically indicate that the licensee they have contacted is under investigation and push the licensee to release personal or financial information.
Do not be fooled - such calls are not legitimate.
Be advised:
• NCMB does NOT contact licensees by telephone to give notice of pending action or investigation
• If you receive a suspicious phone call, hang up; Do NOT release any personal information
• If you have questions, please send an email to: info@ncmedboard.org
Please encourage colleagues to be aware and cautious.
